Singer KK has a great relationship with his fans, despite the fact that some of them fail to recognise the singer at his concerts.

Singer KK blames his “shy” nature for the fact that his fans often don’t recognise him as the popular singer who has sung Bollywood hits such as Tadap Tadap (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999), Dus Bahane (Dus, 2005), and Tune Maari Entriyaan (Gunday, 2014). The 47-year-old says he is often asked if he “really” is KK , the singer.

“I have always been media shy, and you won’t see my photos much in the media. I think that’s why people don’t know who I really am. It happens so many times with me that after a concert fans come up to me and ask that are you really KK and have you really sung songs like Tadap Tadap or Alvida ? I know they are not misinformed, or anything like that, but it’s just that they haven’t seen me much. So, they don’t know what I really look like,” says KK, who is currently working on his independent music album.

“To be really honest, what matters to me the most is that they know my songs. After that, I don’t care if they know who I am or what I look like. These things don’t matter to me. They should like my songs, and that’s the only thing that concerns me,” he adds.

KK also reveals that because he stays away from media, his fans end up having to inform him about a song becoming a hit. “After I sing a song, I keep a track of it just for a short time. Just the first few reactions. After that, I don’t really take note of how well a particular song has done. It is only at shows when fans keep asking me to sing a particular song that I end up realising that it’s a big hit,” he says.

However, does it bother him that fans sometimes end up requesting him to play just a few hits? “No, it does not. I cannot force anyone to listen to my songs. I feel blessed that people like my songs, and if they want me to just sing those few at a show, I don’t have a problem with it. I take it as a compliment,” he replies.
