Tension gripped Gejha in Noida after a beheaded bull carcass was found near a drain in the village. Seven people have been arrested in the case.

Villagers started protesting against the slaughtering of cows after which the police and senior administration officials reached the spot.

Police said around 12.30pm on Thursday, the bull’s head was found being carried by a pig near a drain. Locals gathered and started protesting against cow slaughter in the area.

Police reached the spot and controlled the situation by taking away the head for a postmortem examination to identify the animal’s breed. The city magistrate also reached the spot and sealed eight meat shops after which the villagers stopped their protest.

City magistrate Shailendra Mishra said, “We have sealed eight shops that were running without a licence. Villagers complained that these shops were creating a nuisance in the area.”

Police have registered an FIR under the Cow Slaughter Act, 1955, against seven persons who were either running meat shops or working there. “We have arrested the seven persons. Our investigation is on in the matter,” Shwetabh Pandey, Circle Officer 3, said.

“Slaughtering of cows is banned and nobody will be allowed to break the law,” Pandey said..
