Ranchi woman alleges gangrape by four friends, two arrested
According to the victim’s complaint, the accused kept giving her soft drinks spiked with alcohol and then raped her.
Two men were sent to judicial custody on Sunday in connection with the gang-rape of a 25-year-old woman in the state capital Ranchi on Friday night, police said.
The woman has alleged that she was gangraped by four of her friends. She alleged the four men raped her in an apartment complex in Hinoo area under Doranda police station.
Doranda police station in-charge Abid Khan said, “We have nabbed two accused, identified as Vikram, 30, and Sonu, 31. Both are residents of Hinoo.”
He said Vikram, who is enrolled in a private commercial pilot training college in Patna, lives behind a multiplex in the area, while Sonu is engaged in a small business here.
According to the victim’s complaint, she along with a female friend went to Vikram’s flat at Ganpati Apartments in Hinoo on Friday night for a party. The accused were known to her, said the complainant.
“The four men kept giving me soft drinks spiked with alcohol. As it was getting late, my friend left. However, I was quickly losing consciousness. Taking advantage of the situation, all four raped me. When I protested, they beat me,” the complainant said.
She reached Doranda police station on Saturday and narrated the incident to police.
Police sources said that the victim and her female friend were common friends with the four accused.
“Two other accused, Sushil Kachap, 38, and Subhash Munda, 39, are absconding. We have launched a man-hunt to nab them,” Khan said.
After a case was registered under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC, police sent the woman for medical examination. “The report is awaited. The two accused were sent to Birsa Munda Jail in Hotwar. Further investigations are on. We will arrest the remaining accused soon,” he said.
