Legendary singers KJ Yesudas, SP Balasubrahmanyam sing together after 27 years
The new song titled Ayya Sami is from MA Nishad directed Kinar. It is a story about the issue of water scarcity along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Yesudas and Balasubrahmanyam last sang together for Rajinikanth and Mammootty starrer Thalapathi.
After an interval spanning over 27 years, legendary singers KJ Yesudas and SP Balasubrahmanyam have teamed up to croon a song for upcoming Malayalam-Tamil bilingual film. The duo last sang together the hit number Kaattukuyilu from superstar Rajinikanth and Mammootty starrer 1991 film Thalapathi.
Their new song titled Ayya Sami is from MA Nishad directed Kinar, a story about the issue of water scarcity along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The song’s video was released on Tuesday. While Yesudas has crooned the Malayalam lines of the song, Balasubrahmanyam has sung the Tamil lines. The video features the legends having a ball of a time singing. The lyrics are penned by BK Harinarayanan and Palani Bharathi.
The film will be released in Tamil too, titled as Keni. Featuring an ensemble cast including veteran actress Jayapradha, Revathy, Pasupathy, Parthepan, Archana, Nasser, Parvathy Nambiar, Indrans, Renji Panicker, Joy Mathew and Anu Hasan, the film has music by M Jayachandran.
According to director Nishad, Kinar is a symbolic representation of the water shortage most of us face today. While Jayapradha will be seen in the role of a housewife, Revathi will be seen as the Collector of Tirunelveli district.
