Oppo F3 Plus with dual selfie camera set to launch on March 23
Want to take your selfies to the next level? Chinese tech giant Oppo is all set to unveil its latest Selfie Expert phone, which comes with not one but two selfie cameras.
Over the course of a week in October 2013, the word ‘selfie’ came up over 368,000 times in Facebook status updates, while Twitter saw the hash tag being used in more than 150,000 tweets. A month later, the Oxford English Dictionary announced ‘selfie’ as the word of the year, conclusively proving that this phenomena was no passing trend.
Several smartphone manufacturers since have cashed in on the demand for better, brighter front-facing cameras, but no one seems to have mastered its selfie game as much as the Chinese tech giant, Oppo, known for its selfie-focused smartphones.
In its latest announcement last week, the brand tweeted about the upcoming launch of the F3 and F3 Plus –the first of its kind from the series to have a dual selfie camera setup: a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel sub-camera. This allows the user not just to take a conventional selfie, but also include friends, families and large groups of people in group selfies. Invites for the event – scheduled for March 23 – have been sent out already.
In its official press release, the brand said: “The F3 Series will take selfie technology onto another level as well as it sets new trends.” OPPO, with a presence in 28 markets, is the fourth-largest smartphone brand globally in 2016, according to latest reports from IDC. Much of the success was attributed to the sales of OPPO’s ‘Selfie Expert’ Series of smartphones - the F1, F1 Plus and F1s.
The brand will simultaneously launch F3 Plus of the F3 Series in five key markets – India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam. Large advertisements were also displayed on landmark buildings in Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as in Times Square, New York.
