HC asks Punjab government to look into demand for free access to Jang-e-Azadi memorial

The high court bench of acting chief justice Ritu Bhari and justice Nidhi Gupta, while disposing of a PIL from Nitin Mittoo, a Kapurthala resident, asked the Punjab government to decide his representation in this regard, which was submitted to the government on November 28, 2023.

The petitioner, who appeared in person, had argued that due to fees/tickets levied, there is no footfall of people/visitors in the area.

Darshan asthan facelift in Dera Baba Nanak: Devotees can now use high-range binoculars for darshan across Pak border

The beautification of the raised platform situated on the Ravi dhusi bandh has been done by the Punjab government through district administration in collaboration with the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI) and Border Security Force (BSF). Earlier, the platform was in dilapidated condition and lacked quality binoculars.

Will write to foreign minister over ‘maryada violation’, says SGPC on Kartarpur event

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has condemned the alleged violation of conduct during a party near Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan. A video surfaced online showing a dance party organised by the Kartarpur Project Management Unit on the premises of the gurdwara. The authorities denied the allegations of alcohol and non-vegetarian food being served at the party, stating that the viral video was doctored. The SGPC also announced that it will take legal action against a social media platform for allowing a fake account in its name to spread hate propaganda against Sikhs.
