TV Review: Rakt Sambandha, Chote Ustaad 2
A review of some of the newest shows on the small screen, Rakt Sambandha on Imagine and Chote Ustaad 2 on Star Plus. Here's a look. Read on...
Show:Rakt Sambandha
Station: Imagine
Time: 10 pm, weekdays
Cast: Sriti Jha, Dhruv Bhandari and others
The leading lady Sandhya (Sriti Jha) has four married sisters, each of their respective stories lead to a reason for their father’s murder.
The plot of the show, a remake of the South version by the same name, also produced by UTV, is quite different from the regular soaps. For those interested in slow, but steadily developing story lines, this show is the ticket.
What we like
The show weds family drama with suspense beautifully.
Various big and small actors have been used without giving anyone any less importance. The show has a unique voice-over from the dead father.
Dhruv Bhandari doesn’t come across as a debutant. Sriti Jha gets the mannerisms right.
We don’t like
The timings of the show might mar the audience ratings.
The storyline moves a little slowly. For those who’re used to quick developments, this may drag.
Show:Chote Ustaad 2
Station: Star Plus
Time: 9 pm, Saturday-Sunday
Cast: Sonu Niigaam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and kids
Sonu Niigaam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan turn judges. The contestants are a mix of Indian and Pakistani children. Thankfully, the show doesn’t run into the auditioning stages at all. That just leaves the audience with pure musical studio-shot entertainment. The idea of bringing India and Pakistan on a common platform is praise-worthy.
Rahat and Sonu haven’t had a fight as yet, another message of peace that the show sends out.
What we like
The concept deserves applause.
Rahat and Sonu know their jobs well as judges.
The quality of singers is fantastic, considering their ages.
We don’t like
Omi Vaidya should stop being Chatur.
Hostess Chinmayee, needs a crash course in her job.
The set design could have been better.
